When Michele met Bon Jovi...
27 February, 1993 in Washington D.C.

I wanted to tell you my Bon Jovi story.  I met them by accident...let me explain. I had to work all morning on a Saturday and had a ticket that evening for their concert.  This was a long time ago, can't exactly remember when.  I do remember however that since I had to work I couldn't dress up like I normally did to go to a concert.  Anyway, I had made a really big Bon Jovi posterboard to bring with me to the show.  I had put pictures of all their albums on it along with pictures of them.

Well, I had to pick up my ticket at "will call" and while I was waiting I overheard a group of people talking about how they had backstage passes to see Bon Jovi after the show. I approached them with my big sign I had made and asked them if they would do me a favor and take my poster with them and get it signed by the band. Well one of the people was an older man and  after he saw my sign and talked to me for a while he knew I loved them so much, he actually asked me if I wanted to have his backstage pass!  I said "How will you get backstage"?  He said he was related to Tico Torres and that he could get Backstage without the pass.

Well I took the pass and started to panic... Here I was with this backstage pass and I was also attending the concert by myself. All my friends were into different kinds of music and no one cared for Bon Jovi.  Plus, I looked awful from working all day. Well, I went backstage with my big poster and met the band.  I went into this room with a lot of other people and the band was just hanging out talking to everyone. I asked the band to sign my poster and they all did. I asked Jon if he was going to sing "I'll be there for you" (this is my favorite song) and  he said they weren't.  I really didn't get to talk to him much.

I did get to talk to Richie for a little.  He had appeared on a talk show a few weeks earlier (this was when he was dating Cher) they were asking him really personal questions about Cher, like what she wore to bed, etc.. We were laughing about the interview and Richie was saying that it was really embarassing.

Another funny thing happened;  Alec asked me if I had a quarter so that he could use a payphone!!!! I couldn't believe it!  I didn't have one to give him. I was really surprised that he asked me. With all their fame etc... I thought he would have people working for him that helped him with that kind of stuff. The only other thing I remember was David Bryan was really really funny. He was just telling everyone really funny stories.

Well now I'm 35 and living in Florida with two small boys, 1 1/2 and 3.  I still have the Bon Jovi poster I made with all their autographs.  My husband always asks me when I'm going to throw it away.  I tell him never.  I will always be a Bon Jovi fan until I'm an old lady and will still always see them every year when they tour.  I can't wait until next year when their new album comes out. Hopefully they will be coming near Tampa, Florida.  If not, I will have to fly somewhere to see them.
