Bon Jovi – Milton Keynes
Saturday 16th June 2001

I am writing this the day after the gig – its still fresh in my mind so I am sure I can write a lot of things about Bon Jovi.

First on stage was a British band called Delirious and an American band called Matchbox Twenty, both of who were really good but sadly it rained during their acts, but held off for Bon Jovi! I must say that out of all the concerts I have been to, Bon Jovi are the only ones who actually show up on time on stage!  They never keep their fans waiting!

They appeared on stage which was a copy of the Empire State Building and the big screen showed them getting in an lift (elevator) while the music before One Wild Night was played.  The ping of the lift doors meant that Bon Jovi had arrived on stage and were ready to entertain the One Wild Crowd at Milton Keynes. They started off with One Wild Night and then went straight into Raise Your Hands.  Jon wore a racing type jacket with a really awful hat and sunglasses – sorry, but not my type!!  He also wore an Oxford University t-shirt following his recent visit there.  Total respect to Richie for wearing a sequinned Union Jack t-shirt!

Hit after hit was played to a deserving crowd and then Bad Medicine was played followed by Shout.  The crowd went wild and lots of jumping was done. Three encores were played to us that night.  On the first encore we were treated to Twist & Shout which seemed like it would never end!  Also before that, Tequila was played to us.  Brilliant guitar work from Richie for those songs.  Well he played pretty good all night but I haven’t heard Tequila played on a guitar before!  The second encore was Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night and Wanted Dead Or Alive. Then they all took a bow and we cheered, screamed, applauded and any other form of appreciating them, but it wasn’t complete yet.

We kept singing the chorus to Livin’ On A Prayer over and over again and Bon Jovi had looks on their faces as to say ‘What?  You want more?  But we want to go to bed!’  Jon did say that the band would get into trouble if they did one more song and that everything needed to be packed up for Cardiff the next day but we didn’t care.  We were not going to let Bon Jovi go without singing Livin’ On A Prayer.  Never a band to disappoint their fans, the launched into Livin’ On A Prayer before leaving a crowd feeling knocked off their feet.

I am pleased to say that I am a bigger fan than ever since their last show in Wembley Stadium, maybe not as a big a fan as other people I speak to through the internet, but I like to think I am a fan at least! Another fantastic show guys, come back and see us soon!

Lots of love, hugs and kisses always……..
